PROJECT CLOSURE MEETING HAS BEEN REALIZED


Within the scope of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs Marta Programme, Disabled at Work Project which has been conducted by Denizli Municipality for 3 years in Denizli is finalized on 30th April 2010 at Denizli Polis House. Local and foreing parters’s senior executives and representatives participated at closure meeting. During the pilot project implementations 199 disabled people were trained and 112 disabled people were employed. At the end of the meeting Mayor of Denizli Municipality Nihat ZEYBEKCI and President of Workability Europe Hans VRIND presented to all partners plaques for their contributions to the project. Sustainability of the project is ensured  with signed protocol ‘’identifying physically disabled people by determination of competence and suitability for work, vocational trainings, ensuring employment and meeting the demands of the labor market’’.

FIRST GROUP AT ''JOB AND COMMUNICATION TRAINING'' TOOK THEIR CERTIFICATES


   

Within the scope of the Disabled at Work Project, the first group at ‘’ Job and Communication Skills’’ training took their certificates. Realized trainings for contribute the disabled people’s social life cover occupational safety, communication and interview techniques. Approximately 100 people is planned to attend these trainings which are weekly. Weekly trainings will continue.

STEERING COMMITTE MEETING HAS BEEN REALIZED

Steering Committee meeting has been realized on 12 November 2009 in Denizli Municipality Survey and Project Department. Delegates from ISKUR, National Education Management, SHCEK, Pamukkale University, Chamber of Commercial, Disabled Society and Workability Europe have taken part in the meeting presiding is Deputy Mayor of Denizli Municipality Osman Zolan.
Done studies up until now in the project and planning activities have been evaluated in the meeting. Decisions concerning with dissemination and sustainability of project have been taken.
Deputy of Mayor Osman Zolan determined that the project is taking samples cooperation in Denizli, and now Disabled at Work project is at key point. He emphasized that the project is followed up from Turkey and the Netherlands, so dissemination and sustainability are important for project.

PROJECT WORKS CONTINUE

Disabled at Work pilot project implements which were started on 3 December 2009 continue with all partners’ participations and supports. This project is financed by the Royal Nederland Ministry of Foreign Affairs Matra Programme and its local coordinator is Denizli Municipality. Within the scope of the project, number of interviewed disabled is 218, trained disabled is 60 and successful disabled at final exams of courses is 48. 27 of them have been employed in different branches of business. Opened courses within the scope of project are apparel sewing machine course, office assistance course, and computer operator (drawing programmes) course, computer operator (advanced computer) course.
Disabled at Work project is a cooperation project for disabled employing and revealing the hidden workforce. Studies will continue to support the disabled employing in the coming days.
Apparel sewing machine course, marble-mosaic course and assistant chef course are planned to open in the coming days.

DISABLED; HIDDEN WORKFORCE CONFERENCE HAS BEEN REALIZED

‘’Disabled; Hidden Workforce ‘’ conference was realized on 14th – 15th May 2009 in Pamukkale Colossae Thermal Hotel which is cooperated together by Denizli Municipality and Workability Europe. Denizli governor Yavuz Erkmen , Mayor of Denizli Municipality Nihat Zeybekçi, SHCEK General Manager İsmail Barış, Head of OZIDA Abdullah Güven, Deputy of Almelo Municipality Mieke Kuik, many employees who work concerning disabled people from special sector and public participated the conference. Conference continued throughout 2 days. The first day, studies for employing the disabled in Turkey and Europe was discussed. And the second day, The Pamukkale Declaration has been published which will   provide input for all laws and regulations concerning disabled.
 
At the end of the conference, it was discussed that the use of   human rights of the disabled must be ensured by all organizations. As a result, there are many legal regulations concerning disabled people; but if all of these regulations are not applied correctly, it is impossible to reach the expected results. Therefore, for the right applications to be implemented cooperation between organizations should be conducted.

NEW VOCATIONAL COURSES HAVE STARTED


3 new courses oriented towards disabled people has started within the scope of ‘’Disabled at Work’’ project. Total of 36 disabled  people are attending  the Computer operators ( advanced computer) course which has started  23rd March 2009, the computer operators (drawing programme) course and the office assistant course which has started 01st April 2009.
 
 
Trainees have been determined  from disabled data base and selected from the interviewed disabled  by ISKUR, Public Education Directorate and Denizli Municipality. These courses will continue for 2 months approximately.  The trainees who complete the course and final examinations succesfully  will be awarded certificates and  suitable matching for  work placements will start.

THEY INVOLVED TO THE PROJECT AND WON

Employement studies for the disabled citizens who are involved in Disabled at Work Project is progressing. 7 of the trainees of our first vocational trainining were employed by several companies in Denizli. Furthermore, 6 skilled people of the interviewed people in the scope of the project were directly employed without any vocatiional trainings.

Involvement of the disabled people into employement market will continue...Disabled citizens can contact to Disabled Coordination Centre of Denizli Municipality and must be registered to disabled database developed by SHCEK. After the registery, disabled people are interviewed by ISKUR and Pamukkale University and supervised for most convenient job opportunities.

FIRST COURSE HAS BEEN COMPLETED


The Apperal Machinary Course which started within the scope of  ''Disabled at Work '' project on 3rd December 2009 and finalized on 3rd March 2009. The final examination was applied on 9th March 2009 at the Public Education Centre. 7 disabled people have successfully completed the exam and matching for their work placements have started.

THE IMPLEMENTATION STARTS

First implementations of the cooperation protocol signed between the Turkish partners of the project starts. The activities were determined in the Steering Committee Meeting held in June and a pilot project was prepared.

All the partner organisations determined their personel who will work for employement of the disabled. The assaigned staff will be trained on their tasks in the scope of the project.

Training of testing is planned to be finalised in September and first testing activities will be realised in October. Interviews will be done with the disabled and a Personal Employement Plan(PEP) will be prepared. Tested disabled citizens will receive a vocational training and be matched with the employers in Denizli in accordance with their test results. After the interviews, if the experts decide that the disabled is qualified enough, he will be directly match with the employers without testing and vocational education.

TWO ACTIVE TEST CENTERS

Test centers those were planned to be established in the scope of Disabled at Work project are in operation.

Within the activities of the project, two test kids were handled to Denizli Municipality. Those testing kits are submitted to İŞKUR Denizli Directorate and Pamukkale University and test centers are taken into operation. 

Executing staff of the test centers got a special training from Jan Oosting, an expert from Bureu Mink, about how to implement the test and evaluation of the results. First applications were realised in the test center in which the ability and capasity of disabled are determined.

the physical disabled citizens who wants to be involved in testing and training period can register to the Disabled Coordination Centre of Denizli Municipality.

At the start up of the project the municipility of Dinizli is invited as official member of network organisation Workability Europe.

Workability International was founded in 1987. Workability Europe was the first Regional Group to be formed by the European members of Workability International in 1995. Originally known as International Organisation for the Provision of Work for People with Disabilities who are Occupationally Handicapped (IPWH), the organisation adopted its current name at its World AGM in January 2002

  More than three million people with disabilities are engaged in work programmes; accessing employment and work, delivered by our 120 member organisations in some 35 countries.

Progress matching-testing and training

The project progress is in line with the planning. The Turkish and Dutch experts developed and exchanged relevant information for the new instruments and methods. In september the first candidates will have the oppertunity to be involved in the project.
 

Meeting Denizli - 9 June - 14 June 2008

In the first week of June a delegation of the Dutch partners visits Denizli. In this week  the Turkish and Dutch experts worked hard to develop the methods and instruments to be able to support the people with a disability.

In september the first disabled candidates will be selected to be involved in this exciting project. The candidates will be supported to get a sustainable job at the regular labour market. Testing, training and matching will be used to help the candidates.
